About John...
John’s father was a press photographer, he presented John with his first camera at the age of nine. Photography quickly became his passion and he never left home without his beloved camera. Throughout his school years he developed and improved his photographic technique.
Shortly after leaving college, he established a photographic business, and opened his first of three photographic studios on the Fylde Coast.
Although John concentrated on wedding photography, he rapidly built an impressive client list. BT, Smirnoff vodka, Thwaites Brewery, Ideal toys, First Leisure – to name a few. Public relations, advertising and commercial photography during most the week, however, he remained in demand for his talents as a wedding photographer.
John was approached by a national Sunday newspaper picture desk, inviting him to work on news and feature stories. He joined the newspaper for a few years, he was then headhunted by The Sunday Mirror. He became a staff photographer, covering stories across the world; war zones in eastern Europe and the middle east and exposing gang and criminal activity in England and Europe. He also had his fair share of glamour, photographing heads of state, Royalty, celebrities, sporting stars, and super models; ranging from Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana, David Beckham, The Spice girls, Lewis Hamilton… the list is endless.
Whilst working for the Sunday Mirror he worked in conjunction with UNICEF, Oxfam and Save the Children. Photographing human tragedies in Asia, north, mid and south Africa, and the Gulf of Mexico; providing images to spearhead their various worldwide charitable campaigns.
John has now returned to the Northwest, winding back the clock and applying the skills and experience he has gained throughout his vast career to his first passion; capturing the memories made on wedding days.
